The Fines:
Knowing and following the bike rules are important. But if you don't follow the rules, you can be fined by the police! Here are some of the reasons you can be fined, and the amounts (as of May 2014).
Not following these rules, can get you a 1,000 kroner fine:
Not following these rules, can get you a 700 kroner fine:
Not following this rule, can get you a warning:
Not following these rules, can get you a 1,000 kroner fine:
- Using a hand-held mobile phone while biking
- Cycling through a red light
- Cycling against traffic
- Not following the right of way of traffic
Not following these rules, can get you a 700 kroner fine:
- Cycling without lights in the dark
- Having defective brakes or reflectors, or not having these at all!
- Cycling across a pedestrian crossing
- Cycling on the cycle path on the left side of the street
- Not respecting traffic signs or arrows
- Not signalling a turn or stop
- Cycling no-handed
- Cycling on the pavement
- Holding onto a vehicle
- Having two or more people on a regular bicycle
- Being in the wrong position while or before turning
Not following this rule, can get you a warning:
- Having a bell that doesn't work, or not having one at all!
